Plan Notes

Our garden is somewhat shadded during late afternoon from surounding trees. We rotate crops every year. Garlic does extreamly well in this area. I have fencing all around to grow vertical for all squash types to climb. Beats are one that we have a hard time with, moved then this year to a more sunny area. Homemade water tank to collect rain water with spout and self gravity feed hose for watering. Soil needed lots of work when moved here, added compost, lime and bone meal in the past. Soil is great now. We also get live ladybugs for afid control from Costco.ca and we net the crops to prevent other insects from laying eggs. We use water mix with soap for control or water mix with cayenne pepper and lemon oil for pest control. Never used pesticides. We grow enough to can about 30 500ml green ketcup, 10 1L jars of stew tomatoes, 10-15 500ml salsa, 10-15 500ml hot peppers, 5 1L jars of mixed pickled veggies, 4-8 500ml jars of pickled carrots, 4-8 500ml (hot or not) pickled yellow or green beens and freeze about 4 xtra lg freezer bags of beens and kale, spinach and also cut celery. and many many more. We just used our last bag of kale and beens this past week, jan 29-2018 from last summers crop and I have about 6 bubls left of garlic, We also dry Garlic to make garlic powder, pickle garlic and use fresh all yr. I put 3 plants of "blueberries" but they are Haskatps, I yeald about 4-10 quarts of fruits. Along the side of my west fence are raspberry bush, and My stawberries are the white kind on the East side of the yard.
