Spacing
Single Plants: 7" (20cm) each way (minimum)
Rows: 7" (20cm) with 7" (20cm) row gap (minimum)
|
Sow and Plant
Best sown during the cooler months. Can be sown in containers during cold weather or sown direct if not too cold. Sow 4 seeds per station to grow 3-4 plants for salads, or 2-3 seeds per station to grow 1 plant with large leaves for cooking.
Our Garden Planning Tool can produce a personalized calendar of when to sow, plant and harvest for your area.
|
Notes
Keep well watered. Spinach grows tall and goes to seed when days become long and hot. Grow a second crop in the fall.
|
Harvesting
Pick individual leaves, or allow plants to grow into dense, leafy rosettes.
|
Troubleshooting
Slow growth and yellowing leaves indicate nutritional stress. Drench with a water soluble plant food.
